The ballot for the 2026 Collective Bargaining Ratification Vote opens at 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 and closes at 9:00pm on Thursday, May 14, 2026. All FSA members will receive their voting credentials (Voter ID and Password) by email at 4:45pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Denise Calvert is the Returning Officer overseeing this vote.

The BCIT Faculty & Staff Association is conducting this vote using an electronic ballot to maximize the opportunity for all FSA members to participate.  We contract with Simply Voting for this service. Simply Voting is a Canadian company providing voting and election services for a range of organizations including unions and municipalities.

All members should be aware before casting their votes that an electronic vote is not completely secure and private.  Simply Voting does not retain personal information about participants in a vote.  It does track who voted and records the vote. Simply Voting does not provide the FSA with information on how an individual member has voted and the FSA cannot access that information on its own. We have instructed Simply Voting not to keep records of past votes for participants in FSA ballots. 

The security of any individual’s ballot is only as secure as their email.  We have attempted to increase the integrity of the process by requiring each voter to provide an externally generated unique identifier. Like other email and web browsing activity, records may be stored and accessed by an internet service provider.  For members participating in a ballot while on campus, their service provider is BCIT.
